Mood

Guide to mood and emotion in AI images

Mood is what the image makes you feel. Two photos of the same product can convey calm or energy, luxury or closeness, and that weighs more in the viewer's decision than any technical detail.

This layer brings together general atmospheres, specific expressions for people and seasonal moods. It works best alongside coherent light and colour.

Atmospheres

An atmosphere sums up a brand intent: premium, playful, calm, energetic, nostalgic. Pick one and support it with light: a cosy mood under cold light convinces nobody.

Expressions

With people, expression changes everything. A subtle smile, a laugh or a thoughtful look tell different stories. Ask for a specific expression rather than “happy person”.

Seasons

Seasonal moods adapt any image to a date without changing the subject: Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's, summer or autumn. Very useful for campaigns and shop windows.

Common mistakes

  • Asking for contradictory emotions (calm and energetic).
  • Relying on the adjective alone, with no light or colour to back it up.
  • Exaggerated expressions that look fake: subtle tends to be more believable.

Example combination

Winter mood reinforced by warm light and colour.
